Prior to joining Word of Mouth, Lara Kate worked with the public school system, serving preschool and school-aged children in both school and community-based settings. She has extensive experience in assessing and treating a variety of language and speech-sound disorders. Passionate for early intervention, Lara Kate seeks to incorporate and empower parents/caregivers to help their children to succeed. Lara Kate is eager when helping children communicate and interact within their environment to reach their fullest potential.  She believes the key to making progress is to establish a level of trust through meaningful moments with each child while improving speech and language skills.  

Lara Kate is a Professionally Certified FIE Mediator. FIE is a cognitive intervention program that helps students comprehend and more effectively relate to information by teaching thinking skills like planning, organizing, perceptualizing, and developing strategies to solve real-world problems. 

Lara Kate, a native to Mississippi, graduated from the University of Mississippi where she earned her B.S in Communication Science and Disorders, and completed her M.S. in Communication Disorders at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee.  In her free time, Lara Kate enjoys walking trails with her dogs, sitting outside on a pretty day, and exploring all the amazing restaurants and music shows in Nashville.
